A U.S. Postal Service parcel locker on Horizon Circle lays on its side after vandals tampered with and destroyed mailboxes during the early morning hours of June 25. The Owen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, but have few leads. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office.
Vandals take toll on mailboxes

The Owen County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a number of reports of damaged or destroyed mailboxes.
Owen County Sheriff Mark Bess said 30 to 40 mailboxes were either destroyed or tampered with between 3 and 4 a.m. June 25.
Additionally, Bess said the vandal or vandals had reportedly placed red or black paint on some of the mailbox posts.
Owen County Sheriff’s Deputy Marty Lilly said the vandalism seemed to run in a circle, with mailboxes being hit on Hwy. 22 W. in Owenton, Lake Road, Southfork Road and Cull Road.
