    Amber is the granddaughter of Sylvia Blankenship and the late Earl Blankenship of Frankfort and Emma Hundley and Roger Seaton of Owensboro.
    Derrick is the grandson of Florence Giles and the late Leon Giles of Monterey and Ronald and Joann Wright and the late Laurel Ballinger of Frankfort.

  • The stone orator stands erect atop the imposing alabaster monument and gazes out over the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Owenton. The marker bears the image of United States Representative Evan E. Settle and designates his final resting place.
    Like many other Owen countians, Evan Settle devoted much of his life to politics, and nobly served the people of Kentucky.

  • Jamie and Morgan Bond would like to announce the birth of their son Ryder Wilton Bond, who was  born March 13, 2012 at 10:55 p.m.
    Ryder weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and measured 21.5 inches long.
    He was welcomed home by his big brother Cameron; maternal grandparents, Kim Juett of Long Ridge and Margo and Danny Doty of LaGrange; paternal grandparents, Danny and Bonnie Bond of Sparta; and great-grandmother Jeanette Davis of Sparta.
     

  • Hannah and Westley Johnson II of Owenton are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their mother Jodie Carol Johnson to Anthony Lewis Crump, father of Breanna, Preston and Riley Crump of Jeffersonville.
    Jodie is the daughter of Gary and Barbara Duvall of Owenton and the granddaughter of Bea Perkins and the late Curtis Perkins, JC Duvall and Glenna Duvall of Owenton.

  • Last week was a picture postcard week for our area, sunshine, mild breezy days, fit for about anything one would want to do outside. I divided my time between mowing and cards. The third week of the month always has bridge on Tuesdays and hand and foot on Fridays. I did well at cards, won at bridge and split the games of hand and foot. I can take my winnings and buy a cup of coffee anywhere.

  • Some of us older folk in Owen County shake our heads in disbelief as we struggle to come to grips with modern technology. The ability of our  youngsters  to manipulate the advanced equipment of today never ceases to amaze us. Now the Kindle is visiting the classrooms in our schools and the kids are delighted.

    Nathan is the grandson of Billy and Myra Duvall, Coleman Wilhoite and the late Paul and Frieda Carter.
