  • Displaying a variety of colors and sizes they proudly lined up side by side. Some quite obviously showed their age, and although they certainly had more experience, nevertheless they didn’t seem to mind sharing the limelight with the younger set. They boasted names such as Minneapolis Moline, Farmall, Allis-Chalmers, Power King, Massey-Ferguson, and Ford 8N.

  • Troy and Shanna Osborne of Owenton and Tammy and Eddie Turner of Lawrenceburg, Ind., would like to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Sondra Danielle to Ben Davies, son of Mike and Amy Davies of Dewberry, Ind.
    The bride to be is currently attending Brown Mackey College and will graduate in July 2012 with a degree in veterinary technology. Danielle is employed at Lawrenceburg Veterinary Clinic and she is a 2008 graduate of Lawrenceburg High school.

  • Shane and Rita Power of Owenton would like to announce the birth of their daughter, Makenzie Brooke Power. She was born Monday, March 26, 2012, at 11:43 p.m. at Frankfort Regional Hospital in Frankfort. She weighed 5 pounds 11 ounces and was 18.5 inches long. Her maternal grandparents are Melba Taylor of Carrollton and John and Charlotte Carter of Trimble County; her paternal grandparents are Scott and Joan Power of Carrollton; her great-grandparents are Katherine Carter of Carrolton and Eula “Poppy” Perkins of Owenton.
     

  • Ilena Elizabeth Rose Figgins, daughter of Jonathan Figgins and Jennifer Urie of New Liberty,  was born April 29, 2012 at 8:20 p.m. at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. She weighed 5 lbs 15 oz and was 18.5 inches long.  She was welcomed home by a host of family and friends. Her maternal grandparents are the late Paula Nye and late Tony Urie, and her paternal grandparents are Mike and Mary Rose Figgins. 

  • Danny and Vicki Gortney of Owenton are pleased to announce the marriage of their daughter Kara Suzanne Kistner, to Nathan Andrew Carter, son of Steve and Tracy Carter of Monterey.
    The wedding took place Saturday, June 2, 2012, 6:30 p.m. at the Monterey Baptist Church.
    A reception followed at the Spillway Reception Hall on Elmer Davis Dam Road.

    The truth of these words was emphasized June 14 in a poignant historical society program presented by Pastor Jim Wood. Brother Wood not only shepherds the flock at New Liberty Christian Church, but is also the designated chaplain of an organization called Flags4Vets. Jim is a veteran of the United States Army and continues his service to our country by joining thousands of volunteers dedicated to placing flags on the graves of veterans every Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

  • “Generations Meet” is the theme of the 1812 event to be held in the backyard of the historical society museum Friday evening.
    Saturday and Friday from 7-9 p.m., we welcome a few re-enactors portraying militia
    volunteers in the War of 1812. Stories will be told around the campfire by Earl Bayer from Cincinnati, Ohio, who reminisces about his journey with George Rogers Clark to take Vincennes during the Revolutionary War, and laments about America’s involvement in yet another war.     The wedding will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at the Monterey Baptist Church.
