  • It was a slow week. No yards to mow, the golf clubs had been stored away, and the wood is ready to start building fires. I did go to my first yoga class last Wednesday. In the beginning I didn’t think I was going to like it, but by the time the class was over I had decided it might do me some good. At least, get me out of the house once a week.

  • Owen County Friends of Animals Inc. has partnered with an MBMS Student Technology Leadership Program group, “Animal Allies,” to offer Owen  countians a low-cost TNR (trap, neuter/spay and return) program for feral cats through H.O.P.E. clinic in Versailles. The program provides altering, vaccinations, deworming and basic vet care for feral cat colonies trapped and returned to the location where they were trapped.

  • Some of the memories we hold most dear are those of our childhood; and those reminiscences of the past are significant pieces of our history to be shared with others.
Larry Dale Perry and Peggy McDannell Trinkle remember growing up on East Adair Street, better known as “Dog Hill.” No one knows for sure where the area got the name of Dog Hill, but perhaps the numerous dogs wandering about the streets at that time contributed to its fame.

  • Beech Grove Baptist
To be in the Lord’s House worshiping together should bring a smile to our faces and praise to our lips. Lord, our Lord, how magnificent is his name.
Bro. Steve reminded us that everything we have belongs to the Lord. The sermon was from Malachi 3:7-12 titled “Blessings In Tithes and Offerings.”
Be sure to make your plans for our holiday meal Nov. 27 after the morning service. Please free up the afternoon and bring a dish to enjoy with your brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • The golf gods were evidently listening, because we had a very nice day to play to play Wednesday. It was cloudy but no rain nor wind. There were 28 ladies signed up to play and 28 showed up. That is a first. I think everybody had a very good day. I want to thank Gilbert and his staff for making our outing a success. All the ladies enjoyed the homemade pies. They always go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
