  • I finally got off the Branch last week. My van hadn’t left the garage since a week ago Thursday. Luckily, I had gone to the library Tuesday, the 18th, to stock up on books and gone to Walmart on Thursday to get dog food and milk. After that, the cold and snow moved in and I stayed in.

  • Recently the January cold spell broke, and after a couple days of rain, a farm wagon piled high with browned tobacco was seen sashaying behind a tractor on its journey down Hwy. 127. The once “King Crop” of Owen County was on its way to a prospective buyer.

  • Special thanks to Chris and David for cleaning the lot and warming the church for us.
We welcome everyone who came out to worship with us. Eric and Whitney blessed us with song and music — how proud Mama and Papa are of you. Keep up the good work with your talents.

  • The Rev. Wotier’s message, “When the Judges Are Judged,” was taken from John 7:53 and 8:1-11. The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought before Jesus a woman who had committed adultery. Jesus started writing in the sand. Why did Jesus write in the sand? What did Jesus write? Could it have been about the particular sins of the Scribes and Pharisees themselves? Sinners are people, not things. Sinners (no matter what their actions) are people and precious to our Heavenly Father.
The Deacon of the Month is Danny Jacobs.

  • Bro. Andy’s message was from John 3:1-21 and was entitled “Light.” Light vs. Dark — If you live in the light you can make a difference. Sinners live in the dark and need to be shown the light. The children’s sermon focused on the importance of honoring your father and mother. During children’s church, the kids learned about Zacchaeus meeting Jesus from Luke 19:1-10. A special thanks to Ashley Buffin for being a wonderful assistant in teaching the lesson.

  • Our numbers were down Sunday due to the weather. Bro. James’ sermon was titled “Is Your Faith in God Strong?” taken from Luke 17. An example of faith was found on the wall of a concentration camp. A prisoner had carved the following words: “I believe in the sun, even though it doesn’t shine, I believe in love, even when it isn’t shown, I believe in God, even when he doesn’t speak.”
