Today's Features

  • Sunday, we had a wonderful crowd on such a wonderful Lord’s day.
Special thanks to our music guests, Mr. and Mrs. Jack and Lucy Parker, and Mary Marlow.
Bro. Jared’s message was “Being Able to Say I Love You,” based on  John 3:16-17 and Matthew 3:13-17.

  • The Rev. Wotier’s message, “Do You Know My Voice?” was taken from John 10. God cares for us like a shepherd cares for his sheep. Christ is the Door and the Shepherd. Christ is the access point for His flock. Christ’s sheep follow Him. Jesus’ sheep have eternal life. His sheep cannot be snatched from His flock if we truly believe.
The deacon of the month is Ralph Toole.

  • What a beautiful day it was Sunday. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. It was nice to see so many people in church.
Our church opened up with “The New Beginnings” choir singing “He Has Made Me Glad” and  “We Bring the Sacrifice of Praise.”
Joy and her puppet told us the real meaning of Valentine’s Day — job well done by all.
Bro. James’ sermon was titled “Are You Willing to Suffer Persecution for Jesus?” taken from Matthew 12.

  • On Sunday morning, the choir called the congregation to worship with a beautiful old hymn, “Sweet Hour of Prayer.” Bro. Emory’s message was “Drifting Away” from Hebrews 2:1-4. In Bro. Emory’s message he spoke of the dangers of drifting away from the things of God like the church in Ephesus as they left their first love.
This week has been a week across our land where many received beautifully adorned boxes of the best chocolates, beautiful bouquets of roses and other symbols of love.

  • New Columbus Baptist now has two new deacons. Tommy Scott and Clinton House were recently ordained by the church. We had a great turnout of family and church friends in attendance for this memorable event. Light refreshments were served following the ordination service.

  • Last week’s beautiful special in song by Abby Wuebbling was “A Living Prayer, My God to Thee.” We welcomed Phyllis White to our congregation by letter.
Those who attended our Valentine Social Saturday night had a good time.
Sunday morning, Joe McNay sang “I Can Only Imagine.”
“The Love of God” from Romans 8:35-30 was Bro. Dale’s message. God’s love is incomprehensible, inseparable, and inescapable. Live in God’s promises, not explanations.

  • Zumba fitness classes will be held from 6:30-7:30 each Friday night at the church gym. Cost is $5 per class.
Meeting the Needs Ministry is collecting laundry detergent through February. Boxes are located in the MBC back foyer for donated items.
Our next night to work at Meeting the Needs is from 6 to 8 Feb. 24.

  • Bro. John’s sermon was on Matthew 21:28-32, “Perils of the Self Righteous.” If we say we will and don’t, or we won’t and do, it is wrong. We’re deceiving God and everyone. When we are in God’s will, things happen. Jesus offers permanent help from sin that causes problems in our life. Too many of us act like Christians on Sunday, and on Monday like there was no Sunday.

  • What a beautiful weekend. Saturday was very nice, but Sunday was spectacular. It went up to 58 degrees on my thermometer.
Pat, Ann and I went to Louisville to another play. Somebody in the ticket office really messed up this year. We had no play in January, which was no real hardship, considering the weather. But we had two plays scheduled on consecutive Saturdays in February. It was a good drama and very well done, but I’m just about all cultured out at the moment.
