    The bride is the daughter of James and PruAndera Grider of Long Ridge. The groom is the son of Dr. Roger and Marian Jones of Owensboro.
    Presented in marriage by her father, the bride was attended by her sister, Gabrielle Grider of Owenton, as maid of honor.

  • Jeff and Pam Michels of Poplar Grove, and Junior and Brenda Davis and Lynn Davis of Wallins, would like to announce the engagement of their children: Owen Robert Michels, a 2001 graduate of Owen County High School, and Terri Michelle Adkins, a 1990 graduate of Cawood High School. The wedding will take place Aug. 20, 2011, in Wallins in Harlan County.

    It was 67 degrees when I got home from church Sunday morning. I changed into sweats and socks and curled up with a book all afternoon.

  • Even the younger crowd would have found it difficult to keep up with our “senior” builders as they erected a large picnic pavilion in the backyard of the historical society museum. Under the guidance of foreman Darrel Baker, the expert craftsmen — consisting of Jarl Lee Harris, Jim Acton, Bobby Gibson, Oscar Jacobs, R.C. (Pete) Dawson, and Arthur Kinman — dodged rain and thunderstorms as they erected the structure in a little over a week.
