The New Columbus Community 4-H Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in our church fellowship hall.
The message Sunday will be citing Matthew 23:8-12 and be titled “Why I Am Not Your ‘Calvinist.’ “
Pastor Brad Vincent will be explaining how Jesus warns us in Matthew 23 about letting anyone claim to be our follower or claiming to follow someone else. Although many people boast about their favorite author or historical figure, we as Christians, have pledged allegiance to one: Jesus Christ.

Regular Wednesday night activities will resume tonight at 7 p.m. There are classes for preschool through high-school students and a men’s Bible study class.
The January Men’s Prayer Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday.
An informational meeting about Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University  will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Wild Goose Cafe on West Seminary Street in Owenton. FPU classes will be held beginning Jan. 17 at The Wild Goose Cafe each Monday night at 6:30 p.m. through April 18. Contact Patti Clark for more information.

Bro. John’s sermon was on Luke 2: 21-35 — “The Word Made Flesh.”
When Joseph and Mary came to the temple to offer sacrifice, they didn’t realize they had the real sacrifice in their little child, Jesus.
Simeon had faith as an old man that God would let him see the Lord Christ. When Mary and Joseph came to the temple, Simeon, through the Spirit, knew he was the Christ.
