  • Your favorite shopping center can become a symptom of idolatry

Today I did not go to Beall’s Outlet next to Publix in Inverness.
That may not mean much to you, but to me it was a major big deal.
Lately, I haven’t been able to stop at Publix without checking out the outlet. Even if I park far away I’ll say, “I need to walk more,” and head over to see what’s new at Beall’s.

Sunday morning we were challenged with a message from John 4 on “What Saving Faith Looks Like.” We ended the day with a message from Genesis 1 on “Creation: What You Believe Matters.” It was a great day of worship with the people of God.
Manna in the Morning will meet today (Wednesday) at 10:00am. This bible study is a one-hour exegetical study that is open to all.

  • Only a heart transformation can make us Christians

This past week I got an email from someone who has emailed me before, always with thoughtful, thought-provoking comments.
In this one he wrote, “Permit me to posit the following: Why not consider the word ‘Christian’ more as an adjective than a noun? That is, ‘I try to live a Christian life’ rather than tagging oneself with a label that could suggest a holier than thou attitude….”

  • Maybe persistently mean Christians haven’t been changed by Christ

I don’t know why I was so surprised, but I was.
A few weeks ago, my pastor spoke on a controversial topic, racism, and did an absolutely amazing job, balancing truth and grace.
    That’s not what surprised me.
What surprised me was learning that he was attacked for it, the target of mean-spirited vitriol, face to face encounters and emails.
People love grace, but truth? Not so much.

  • Peace and to watch the Gilmore Girls reunion ... That’s all I want

Last year we became quasi-temporary guardians of our youngest daughter’s two cats, Mohawk and Target.
I say quasi-temporary because the daughter has since moved out after staying with us for a year, but the cats are still with us.
Once our daughter left, we decided to move the cats’ litter box from the guest bathroom to the now-empty spare bedroom.
To us humans, that’s a simple change, but not to the cats.
