With pastor Brad Vincent’s absence this past Sunday, the Rev. Rick Davidson of La Grange Baptist Church filled our pulpit. Bro. Davidson cited the 17th chapter of John as an example of the real “Lord’s Prayer” since this chapter is Jesus himself praying. He first prays for Himself, next for His disciples and then for all believers. Jesus prayed that God would keep His chosen believers safe from Satan’s power and set them apart to keep them pure and holy and united through His truth.

Meeting the Needs Ministry is in dire need of personal hygiene items. Boxes are located in the MBC back foyer for donated items. Our next night to work at Meeting the Needs is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

Bro. John’s sermon was on John 10:1-5, “I Am the Good Shepherd.” A sheepfold was an enclosure with a high wall and one door. The porter would open the door and the shepherd would come in. The sheep knew his voice and learned to depend on him.
Jesus is our shepherd, he comes through the door, not deceiving like a false prophet. We need to depend on Jesus. The Holy Spirit is our porter. We need to heed his voice.
Louise Johnson sang, “When the Blood Fell.” The Sunday night sermon was on “Amazing Grace.”

Last Sunday, everyone was welcomed on a cold January morning. Carol blessed us with beautiful music on the piano — how wonderful it is to hear that sound again.
