Bro. Bill’s message was from Matthew 2:1-12 called “Returning a New Way.”  He shared how the wise men enjoyed their purposeful journey and after seeing Jesus came back home new people.  Ronnie share the song “Lord, Please Come Down to Me.”

  • A few cupcakes, some Percocet and a lot of grace

Over the past few years, my friend Mike and I have had some rather unorthodox conversations about faith and stuff.

Mike’s the one who once prayed that God would fix his toilet and it was fixed miraculously. He’s also the one who assured me that it’s OK to tell God when I’m angry at him since he knows it anyway and he won’t smite me with boils for being angry.

Mike is also the one who one year ridiculously announced he was giving up pride for Lent, which I still remind him of 10-plus years later.

  • Have you ever considered thanking God for fleas?

I’ve always enjoyed the story about the little girl who asked her father where people came from. The father explained that God made Adam and Eve and that they had children, and their children had children, and soon the world was populated with people.

The little girl then went to her mother asked the same question. The mother told her that people evolved from monkeys through a process known as evolution.

We had a wonderful day worshipping the Lord.  Bro. Bill’s message was from Luke 1:26-37 and Matthew 1:18-25 on the challenges of faith.
We invite you to come worship with us each Sunday at 9:45 a.m. for small group and 11 a.m. for joint worship.

  • Even with our flaws, God shows us grace

If you’ve been in church for any length of time, depending on the church you may have heard sermons about Bible heroes: strong and mighty Samson, brave David the shepherd boy who fought the giant Goliath and killed him with his slingshot and a stone.

There’s Daniel in the lion’s den, the three Hebrew teens in the fiery furnace, Moses who led the Israelites out of Egypt.

Perhaps you’ve heard the story about the small-town prosecutor who called an elderly grandmother as his first witness in a trial. She put her hand on a Bible and was prompted to swear that she would tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

  • Umpires, like everybody else, must make right call about Jesus

  • Believing and trusting God, even when I have doubt and fear

As I write this, I’m sitting in the sanctuary of my church.
It’s early on a Monday morning, the first day of our prayer week.
We did this last year, opened the church to anyone who wanted to come and pray. Last year I went every day and prayed fervent, specific prayers, prayed with all my heart, soul, mind and strength.
As far as I can tell, not one of my prayers was answered the way I had hoped. The situation I had prayed about has changed, but not the way I had imagined and hoped it would.

We shared our blessings with one another as each named at least one person we praise God for placing in our lives.  Bro. Bill’s message was taken from Luke 17:11-19 which encourages us to realize that we are all spiritual lepers but through God’s grace we are healed.
