  • The sign says: Gone fishin’

Last week while on my stay-at-home vacation, I went fishing.
For billions of people around the world, that news would be a big fat no big deal because it’s done all the time so ho hum, tell me something I don’t know.
However, for me going fishing was a big fat very big deal because it was my first time ever.
At 56, I had never fished before, and for months now I have been wanting to, almost to the point of it being an obsession. I don’t know why I’ve been wanting to fish so badly, only that I have.

Bro. Bill’s message Sunday morning was from Philippines 2:1-4 on “Why I Love the Church.” Through the church, Jesus provides hope, faith, purpose, and love to us. Hope is found in understanding what Christ has done for us (Romans 5:3-4). Hope in Jesus rises above our daily situations.
Sunday evening’s message was from Colossians 3:17 on whatever we do, we do for the Lord. We are to let our light shine for him. We were blessed to have Ashley Smith share her gift of music and her testimony with us.

We were pleased to have Bro. Steve Miller deliver our morning and evening sermons. He reminded us that we each have an adversary, the Devil. We need to be prepared to overcome. Pray for each other, read God’s word and keep our eyes on the Lord.
Pray for our sick: Charles and Joyce Lilly, Lucy Jacobs and Marvin Burford.
You are welcome to come and join in with us at Beech Grove. Praise the Lord this week.

  • Grace Notes: Wait, wait, I know the answer

    The answer is: Lamar Lundy.
He was one of the “Fearsome Foursome,” the starting defensive end of the Los Angeles Rams in the 1960s.
It’s one of my husband’s favorite sports trivia stumpers.
He says most sports fans can name Rosey Grier, Merlin Olsen and Deacon Jones, but for some reason Lamar Lundy stumps them, although that’s the one name I always remember.
