• The crossover moment to becoming a Christian

I love a good conversion story, that moment or series of moments that lead up to a person going from not belonging to Jesus to belonging to him.
I remember telling my friend Mike that it was like getting married. Either you are or you aren’t. I told him you can think you’re married, say you’re married, live with another person as if you’re married, but unless you’ve signed the marriage license and said, “I do,” you’re not married.

We had special guests at church Sunday. Bro. Ross Lishen and his wife, Jean, joined us for worship.
Bro. Lishen was pastor at MBC from 1962 -1964. He also gave the morning message about life lessons. It was a pleasure to have them worship with us. We are always glad to have visitors choose MBC as their place of worship.

  • Doing the right thing is always the right decision

Since last year I’ve gotten three new podmates at work, all millennials (those born in the 1980s to the early 2000s).
One just turned 30, one just turned 27 and one, at 22, is younger than my favorite denim jacket that I still wear.
I call them my pod kids and they call me their pod mom.
Of the three, the 30-year-old was horrified to learn that she is a millennial. She had me watch a “Millennials in the Workplace” YouTube video that hilariously portrayed her generation as, among other things, always expecting a reward for doing their job.

  • Hope, like light, scatters the darkness

The other morning I ate breakfast in the moonlight.
The temperature outdoors was several degrees cooler than the temperature indoors, so I took my bowl of Cinnamon Chex/Fiber One with unsweetened almond milk and my cup of coffee, opened the sliding glass door that separates the living room from the back screened-in porch and sat at the high-top tile table.
It was early — I’m a ridiculously early riser — and it was still dark out except for a sliver of a moon.
