  • Kay’s Branch News: Cat fans suffer and rejoice

Remember I told you I lost the last paragraph of Wanda’s news last week? Well, it popped up when I opened the computer on Tuesday morning. I don’t know where it went, nor how it came back but here it is.
Wanda went to the wedding of Jessie and Doug Luscher’s daughter Sandi. They were old friends of Wanda and Danny’s when they went to Camp Pleasant Church years ago.

  • Kay’s Branch News: Season to stay glued to TV

This has been a very disjointed morning.
I received Wanda’s news she had sent last night. I called Fay and talked to her and was getting ready to copy off Wanda’s email when she called to ask if I had received it.
We talked a while and I went to the sun room to get a note I had made about a lady who had called in mid-week. I talked to Wanda and looked but the scrap of paper I had put Rosemary “Hawkins” Gaines’ name on was missing.

  • Kay’s Branch News: Sun and warmth brings some life back to Branch

I must first begin with a clarification in last week’s column. I sent it in and then remembered I had skipped a paragraph of Wanda’s news. I sent Molly an email asking her to insert said paragraph, proceeded to type it as Wanda had sent it using “I” instead of Wanda’s name. I haven’t been in Georgetown in 10 years.

  • Kays Branch News: Work finally getting done along the Branch

The sun came out, the snow disappeared and we got a lot done this week.
John’s back improved and he called to say we could work on shelving on Wednesday.
Teri came over to do her laundry and she helped too.
The shelves are finished and loaded. They took everything I needed to store in plastic boxes with room to spare. The saw horses are gone, along with John’s tools.
The big room in the basement is rearranged and back in living order.

  • Kays Branch News: My winter of water continues

I am not a happy camper this morning.
The Kentucky Wildcats lost, again. It snowed, again and it hasn’t been a good week for me all around.
I awoke Tuesday morning with a wet bed. No, it wasn’t Dobbs’ fault, my waterbed had sprung a leak.
This has been the Winter of Water.

  • Kays Branch News: Weather continues to play games down on Branch

We decided to cancel church on Saturday.
The Branch had as much as eight inches of snow on the ground and it was in the low teens. Snow was piled up on each side of the road and there were icy patches all along the middle.
John took advantage of the 20-degree weather to bring me a load of wood from the wood lot so I would have enough to last this week.
We were ready for another week in the house. I was content. I had wood, a movie, books, a golf game and the University of Kentucky game on TV.

  • Kays Branch News: Busy week around the house

This has been a hectic but productive week.
Teri came on Monday to wash down the walls with vinegar. Then she and John decided that the lower part of the drywall needed to be cut away because it was still wet. She finished about 3 p.m.
John helped me load three large trash bags into the car and I followed her to Owenton to the dump.
She helped me unload and we went our separate ways. That was the last time I was out of the house all week.

  • Kays Branch News: While the rest of county was dry, too much water was my problem

I got in wood last week to last out the deep freeze and wasn’t out of the house, literally, till Wednesday morning.
I suited up and went to Frankfort to play dominos with my friends.

  • Kays Branch News: It’s a good time to stick close to home

I’m back into my routine -- rush around and get it done on Monday morning. This means the holidays are finally over and I can get back to normal, whatever that is.
I went to Frankfort on Saturday and stocked up on books and pet food. I have enough leftovers to last me till February.
It was 0 degrees on my thermometer when I got up this morning. I got in enough wood last evening to last till Wednesday, so I won’t have to get out of the house. We cancelled bridge this week so I have no reason to, but nothing lasts forever in Kentucky.

  • Kay’s Branch News: Holiday brings fun, feasts and family to the Branch as always

Thanksgiving is behind us and this column will be a list of dinners, birthdays and eating.
Wanda said they celebrated Joyce’s birthday at the Pizza Inn buffet. They had taken her there before and she enjoyed it so all the children and several others joined her there once again. She was celebrating her 83rd. Wanda said her birthday fell on Thanksgiving Day this year.
