They came armed with their notebooks and a plethora of thoughtful questions. Owen Electric Cooperative ended its work week with some very special representatives of Owen County Primary School (OCPS) — the Primary Leadership group.
Madison Brown; Allen Mason; Meredith David; Lilly David; Mercedes Bourne; and Haley Neeley make up the group selected by teachers; the principal, Sharen Hubbard; and the gifted and talented coordinator, Teena Gamble. The choice of students was based on outstanding character, leadership, good grades, and role-model characteristics in the classroom. Owen Electric was just one of their stops in Owen County.
“We are visiting successful businesses in Owen County. The students are touring each business to learn why the business is so productive in our community,” Gamble said. “We are working on asking good questions and keeping a journal on our experiences.”
Gamble said that in the spring, the students will conclude their project with a reception at OCPS where all the businesses will be invited to attend. The members of the Leadership Group will share what they have learned.
“Owen Electric was top on our list, since they have been a productive business in our county for 74 years. They keep up to date with technology and energy efficiency to best serve their customers,” Gamble said. “They are always eager to help serve our school system.”
