Volunteer firefighters braved more than just smoke and heat Thursday afternoon as they battled a barn fire in frigid conditions.
With the temperature hovering around the upper teens with a strong wind blowing across Old Kenny Road, firefighters tried to extinguish a blaze that had engulfed a barn owned by Doug Detheridge.
“We braved the elements on this one,” Robb Chaney, chief of the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department, said. “That’s just the way it goes sometime in winter.”
