Volleyball team plays weekend tourney

The Owen County High School Lady Rebels volleyball team spent a busy weekend at Western Hills High School. The team was taking part in the Fight Like a Girl Tournament.
Before they headed to Frankfort, the Owen girls took on Shelby County on Oct. 1 in Owenton. The Lady Rockets defeated the Lady Rebels 2-0 to win the match.
On Friday night, the team began play in the Fight Like a Girl Tournament by taking on Franklin County High School. Owen County would lose a tough match 2-1.
On Saturday, the team played four matches. They defeated Boyle County but lost to West Jessamine and twice to Ashland Paul Blazer.
For her efforts over the weekend, senior middle-blocker Sarah Jane Willhoite was named Owen County’s tournament most valuable player.
The Lady Rebels will play three matches this week as they host Grant County High School tonight (Wednesday) and Heritage Academy on Monday night.
They will then travel to Western Hills on Tuesday night to take on the Lady Wolverines.
