In their third year of existence, the Owen County Lady Rebels continue to experience things for the first time.

This week, they had the chance to host the 30th district tournament.

The week began with the Lady Rebels playing Gallatin County.

The winner was to square off against Williamstown last night. The championship game will take place tonight.

In their final tune up for the district tournament, the team played a pair of matches. The first came at home against Gallatin County.

In a hard-fought match, the Lady Rebels defeated the Lady Wildcats 25-17 and 25-20.

The team then hosted the Carroll County Lady Panthers Oct. 7. The game was “Volley 4 the Cure” night where both teams wore pink uniforms and used a pink ball to raise awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Lady Panthers won the match in two games.

Despite whatever happens this week in the district tournament, the season will have been viewed as a success.

Owen County finished the season with eight varsity wins after not winning a single varsity match in their first two years.
