The Owen County High School volleyball team spent a busy week against 31st District competition. The Lady Rebels played three consecutive nights against the likes of Carroll County, Gallatin County and Henry County.
The Lady Rebels began the week playing in Carrollton against the Lady Panthers. It was the third meeting between the two schools this season with Carroll County winning the previous two.
Sept. 18 would not be different with the Lady Panthers prevailing in four sets.
The Lady Rebels returned home Sept. 19 for a match with Gallatin County High School.
Owen County knocked off the Lady Wildcats 3-0 earlier in the season. It would be the same outcome the second time with the Lady Rebels winning 25-14, 25-10 and 25-17.
On Thursday night, the Lady Rebels welcomed Henry County High School to Owenton.
After losing 3-1 in New Castle in August, the Owen County players had revenge on their mind. They would win a close first set 25-23 and then easily win the second set 25-11.
The third set would be much different.
Henry County jumped out to a 17-7 lead and appeared to be on its way to forcing a fourth set until the Lady Rebels began the comeback.
In the end, Owen County would get the 26-24 win to take the match.
Owen County then spent the weekend in Bowling Green.
On Friday night. they lost 2-1 to John Hardin High School of Elizabethtown.
Then on Saturday, the Lady Rebels lost a 2-0 decision to Bowling Green High School.
The Lady Rebels will be back on the court Thursday night when they travel to Shelby County. T
hey will then return home on Monday and Tuesday night for matches with Williamstown and Heritage Academy. The Lady Demons defeated the Lady Rebels 3-2 in August. Against Williamstown, Owen County won the first two sets only to drop the next three. The Lady Rebels will be looking to once again defeat Heritage this season. They knocked off the Lady Eagles 3-1 on Aug. 20.
