The Owen County High School volleyball team finished the regular season last week with some positive momentum.
Heading into the 31st District Tournament, the team won two of its final three matches.
On Oct. 14, the Lady Rebels hosted Heritage Academy. It was the second time in less than a week the two teams had squared off.
Much like the first meeting, Owen County would get the win as they defeated the Eagles 2-1. Heritage won the opening set 25-21 before the Lady Rebels bounced back and won the next two sets 25-14 and 25-15.
On Oct. 15, the team played its final road match of the regular season against Western Hills High School.
The Lady Wolverines sent the Lady Rebels home unhappy with a 3-0 defeat.
Oct. 16 was the final home match for the team as they hosted Newport High School. Owen County came into the match with a three-match winning streak against the Lady Wildcats.
The Lady Rebels won twice last year and once in 2011. Owen County would extend the streak to four straight as they won 25-12 and 25-15 to close out the regular season.
Owen County began play in the 31st District Tournament on Monday night as they headed to Eminence to take on Gallatin County High School. The Lady Rebels beat Gallatin County twice during the season. The Lady Wildcats went 0-9 in district play. The winner of the match moved on to take on Eminence in the semifinals on Tuesday.
Owen County lost three matches to the Lady Warriors during the regular season. Eminence went 9-0 during the year in district play.
The championship game is scheduled for Thursday night in Eminence at 6 p.m.
