Volleyball picks up road win

It may have only been the second match of the season, but the Owen County volleyball team is hoping to build on their come-from-behind win in Dry Ridge.
After winning the first set 25-15 against Grant County on Thursday night, the Lady Rebels dropped the next two 31-29 and 25-15.
Staring an 0-2 start in the face, Owen County bounced back and won the fourth set 25-15 and then held on in the fifth set 16-14 to come home with a hard-fought victory.
The victory evened up the team’s overall record to 1-1 to begin the season.
Owen County began the season Aug. 20 at Trimble County.
The Lady Raiders defeated the Lady Rebels 25-14 and 25-14 to claim their sixth-straight match victory over Owen County.
The Lady Rebels last defeated Trimble County in the Eighth Region All ‘A’ championship game back on Sept. 4, 2010.
The team will stay on the road as they travel to play Henry County on Thursday night.
After splitting a pair of matches during the regular season last year, the Lady Wildcats defeated the Lady Rebels in the first round of the 31st District Tournament to end their season.
Owen County will spend the weekend at Lafayette High School in Lexington as part in the Bluegrass Invitational Tournament.
They will then play their first home match of the season on Sept. 3 against Gallatin County.
