It was a week of two extremes for the Owen County boy’s soccer team last week.
The week began and ended with shutout losses to both Simon Kenton and Scott County. In between, the Rebels easily defeated Garrard County 7-1.
The game was the first game for Owen County in the Cardinal Cup at Scott County. James Marston scored four goals for the victorious Rebels. Marston also had an assist. Blake Lewis added two goals and an assist while Ryan Marston scored a goal and added a pair of helpers. Ben Allen, Austin Collins and Patrick Brumback each had assists.
The team was in action Monday at the Kentucky School for the Deaf. They then hosted Anderson County Tuesday. The Rebels will play at Mason County Thursday night.
The junior varsity girls were in action Tuesday night at Boone County. The Lady Rebels got goals in the second half from Alexis Ellis and seventh-grader Dree Dalton. The Ellis goal came off a corner kick from Katie Haines.
The Lady Rebels varsity team then lost a 2-0 decision to Grant County Wednesday night.
The team played a road game at Franklin County Tuesday night and will travel to Henry County tonight.
The girls will be in action at the Grant County Invitational Saturday before returning home Tuesday for a game with Gallatin County.
