Tuesday crash claims life of Owen County man

An automoblie accident late Tuesday afternoon has claimed the life of an Owen County man.

According to Senior Trooper Michael Webb, public affairs officer for Post 5 of the Kentucky State Police, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call at 4:59 p.m. Tuesday reporting there was a serious injury accident at 855 Old Sparta Road in Owen County.
Upon arrival, troopers discovered a green 1994 Toyota pickup truck overturned and the two occupants ejected. 
Preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling North on Old Sparta Road (KY 35) when the passenger-side tires dropped off the roadway edge. 
For unknown reasons, the vehicle’s passenger side tires dropped off the roadway edge.
The driver then overcorrected causing the vehicle to overturn, ejecting both unrestrained occupants.
The driver, Robert Lenear, 22, of Owenton, was taken to New Horizons Medical Center in Owenton for serious injuries.
The passenger, Adam Neff, 25, of Owenton, was pronounced dead at New Horizons Medical Center by Owen County Coroner Lannis Garnett.
Trooper Dusty Corbin, an accident reconstructionist, leads the ongoing investigation.
Police said alcohol in not suspected to have played any role in the crash.
Assisting KSP at the scene were:  Owen County sheriff’s deputies, Owen County EMS, Owen County Rescue, and the New Liberty Fire department.
