Rain barrels are a good way to collect water from your downspouts, allowing you to use this otherwise wasted resource for watering flowers, gardens, and lawns, even during times of drought, lowering your water bill.
A workshop has been scheduled to demonstrate how to make rain barrels. It will be held June 19 at the Owen County Fairgrounds Exhibit building at 6:30 p.m. Come prepared to make your own rain barrel and take it home. Tools will be provided, but bring your own drill and jigsaw if you have one.
