By Molly Haines

Two people are dead, including a 2-year-old child, after an early-morning house fire Friday.
Kentucky State Police dispatchers received a call on the fire at 5:25 a.m.
Preliminary investigation points to the kitchen as the location the fire started at 1885 Agee Road.
Brock Morgan, 31, of Greensburg, Ind., was pronounced dead at the scene. A two-year-old also died at the scene.
The mother of the child, Katherine Perry, 30, of Owenton, was flown by PHI, Inc. to the University of Cincinnati Hospital for life threatening injuries.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 Public Affairs Officer Brad Arterburn said the fire didn’t look to be arson, but instead an accident.
Detective Tim Moore is leading the ongoing investigation. Moore was assisted at the scene by the Owen County Sheriff’s Department, Owen County Fire Department, Owen County Life Squad and the New Liberty Fire Department.
Owen County Fire Chief Robb Chaney said although he couldn’t comment on the incident because of an ongoing investigation, the fire took an emotional strain on the members of the fire department.
“Every situation is different,” Chaney said. “We put our jobs first and our emotions we put behind us until we’re behind closed doors or together at the firehouse.”
Chaney said protecting the lives of Owen countians and their property is his main objective.
“It was a very emotional day,” Chaney said. “What I see I have to blank out becauseIi have a job to do. Certain people deal with these things different, we’ve had a very bad year in Owen County and the body can only take so much.”
