Thieves hit storage buildings, nab sword collection

Owenton City Councilman Larry Dale Perry began collecting swords when he was just in the seventh grade, but following a weekend break-in at a local storage unit, Perry’s prized collection could be gone forever.
Police said the break-ins took place Sunday afternoon with locks being broken on five different units. The storage units are located on Ellis Road across from the Owen County Fairgrounds and owned by Mark Baldwin.
Perry said about 27 swords were being stored in his unit and were inside army duffle bags.
