An Owen County man was recently arrested after allegedly stealing an ATV in New Liberty June 2.
According to Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg Public Affairs Officer Trooper Brad Arterburn, an Owen County sheriff’s deputy saw Derrick J. Anderson, 33, on the 4-wheeler that had been reported as stolen.
Kentucky State Police Post 5 Campbellsburg Trooper Dusty Corbin worked the case and found Anderson in Ghent, June 3, at a cousin’s home with the stolen ATV, which had been damaged.
Anderson is being charged with theft by unlawful taking, auto, $500 or more but under $10,000, as well as second-degree criminal mischief.
According to Arterburn, Anderson is also being charged with giving an officer a false name or address after giving Corbin a different name.
Arterburn said Anderson did not have any outstanding warrants and was unsure of why he gave Corbin a false name.
