The Owen County softball team got off to a good start last week.
The Lady Rebels began the season by winning two of their first three games. They defeated Walton-Verona on the road and Carroll County at home. Sandwiched in between was a home loss to Gallatin County.
In the opener against the Lady Bearcats, Katelyn Sutherland belted a three-run homer in the first inning and then made it stand up by pitching a complete game as Owen County won, 10-6. In the third inning, Hannah Neeley hit her first varsity homerun. Courtney Waldrop had a pair of doubles and scored three times.
The Lady Rebels played their first home game of the season when they hosted district rival Gallatin County. The Lady Wildcats got the win as the Owen County bats fell silent in the 5-2 loss.
The team bounced back Thursday night when they knocked off Carroll County, 7-6, in Owenton.
Owen County traveled to Henry County last night to take on the Lady Wildcats. They will go to Warsaw Thursday night where they will have a chance to get some revenge on Gallatin County. Both games are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
