A week that began on a sour note finished strong for the Owen County High School softball team.
The Lady Rebels lost their first two games of the week before finishing with wins on Thursday and Saturday.
On May 7, the team traveled to take on Walton-Verona. The Lady Bearcats would score in every inning but the fourth and limit the Lady Rebels to just three hits in the Walton-Verona 7-0 victory. It was the third time this season Owen County has been shutout.
On May 8, Owen County headed to New Castle to play Henry County High School. The two teams had split their previous two meetings this season.
The Lady Wildcats would have the advantage this time around as they defeated the Lady Rebels 6-4.
The Owen County girls hit the road again on May 9 for a game at North Oldham High School.
Owen County won the game 8-6 to put a halt to a five-game losing streak.
They would keep the positive momentum going on Saturday as they played Jefferstown in the Lady Chargers Classic. The game would prove to be anything but classic for the Lady Chargers as Owen County won the game 12-0 in five innings. The victory improved Owen County to 8-13 for the season.
The team will be back in action today (Wednesday) as they play at Trimble County. They will host Grant County on Thursday before traveling to Anderson County on Friday.
They will then close out the regular season on Saturday at noon against Dixie Heights at home.
The game will be the final regular season contest for seniors Lynsey Farrar, Cassidy Matt, Hannah Neeley, Abby Osborne, Kendall Polley, Katelyn Sutherland, Hunter Sutton and Courtney Waldrop.
