Season begins for Lady Rebel track team

The Owen County High School girls track team started their season last week. The team took part in the GOPW Gold Medal Meet at Walton-Verona March 11.
The team had a solid meet with some top performers in several events.
Autumn Hunter won the 3200-meter run while Samantha Tamplin finished second. Nicole Jacobs won the 300-meter hurdles and finished second in the 100-meter hurdles.
Danielle Roetker placed second in 100-meter hurdles.
Paula Rivera finished first in the discus while Helena Kramer was fourth; Hannah Hatchett, sixth; and Hailey Hatchett, 10th.
Hailey Hatchett was first in the shot put with Kayla Woolums, fourth; Kramer, fifth; and Hannah Hatchett, sixth.
Chisholm finished third in the long jump.
The 4x100, 4x200 and 4x800-meter relays team each placed third. The 4x400-meter relay team was third.
In the 100-meter dash, it was Sara Wilhoite, seventh; Kim Gentry, 11th; and Allison Burford, 12th.
Chisholm was ninth in the 200-meter dash with Wilhoite, 11th; Gentry, 14th; and Burford, 15th.
Brittany Edwards placed fourth; Julie Herrman, seventh; and Burford, ninth; in the 400-meter dash.
Mikala Byers was seventh in the 800-meter run.
Roetker was fourth and Tamplin fifth in the 1600-meter run.
On March 7, the team took part in the Opening Nite Relays at Boone County.
The 4x100 and 4x200-meter relay teams both finished fifth as did the 4x800-meter team.
The 4x400-meter relay team placed seventh. The team was fifth in the distance medley relay and sixth in the 800-meter sprint medley.
In the field events, it was Rivera, second; Wilhoite, third; Hannah Hatchett, fifth; Kramer, sixth; and Woolums, 12th in the discus.
Chisholm was third and Audrey Hager sixth in the long jump.
In the shot put, Hailey Hatchett was third; Kramer, fourth; Hannah Hatchett, sixth; and Woolums, ninth.
