Rotary contest winners

-A A +A

On March 12, five Owen County High School students participated in the Owenton Rotary Club’s Annual Speech Contest held at the Owen County High School.
While this was all of these contestants first time public speaking, no one would be able to tell.
All the contestants demonstrated tremendous speaking skills.
The contest required each contestant to prepare and memorize a five to 10 minute speech on the topic of ‘Peace Through Service,’ which is also the Rotary Club’s international motto.
While all contestants gave great speeches, Bernie Engelman took first place; Ashtom Marcum took second place with Miranda Mason rounding out the winners with third place. The top three winners are all sophomores at Owen County High School.
Bernie Engleman will advance to the Bluegrass Section 6 Contest.
Owen County High School can be very proud of the talent that will represent it.
