Richard Wayne Lucas, 62, of Ghent died April 17, 2009.

Born May 10, 1946, he was the son of Gayle and Bessie Lee Allen Lucas. Richard was a farmer and retired Master Sargent of the Air Force, where he served 22 years and was awarded twice the Meritorious Service Medal, and twice the Air Force Commendation Medal. After his military career, he was mayor of Worthville, a member of the Worthville Volunteer Fire Department and a commissioned Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of Worthville Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers, Larry and Gary Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Jane Arnold Lucas; two daughters, Jeana Platt, and her husband, Lonnie, of Crestwood, and Angela Dermon and her husband, Jerry, of Carrollton; two brothers, Howard David Lucas of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Thomas Jerry Lucas of Carrollton; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held April 20, 2009, at Worthville Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Scherer officiating. Burial was in Dallasburg Masonic Cemetery in Wheatley. Military honors were presented by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Worthville Baptist Church building fund.
