Despite cold temperatures and snow flurries throughout the afternoon, dozens of families braved the cold Sunday for Owen County’s annual Christmas parade.

The parade began at Southern States and made its way downtown, where children and adults alike lined the streets in anticipation.

This year’s theme was “A Christmas Wish for You.”

Eight floats led the way for Santa Claus.

This year’s first-place prize for floats in the church category went to First Christian Church, second went to Hesler Assembly of God and third was won by Beechwood Assembly of God.

First place for the civic-youth category went to Mr. and Miss Sweet Owen, Gregg Webster and Sydney Cobb. Second place went to Girl Scout Troop 1030.

For the civic-adult category, a first-place prize was given to the Kentucky Road Runners and second to Relay for Life.

The overall float winner was Kentucky Road Runners.

Following the parade, Santa made his way to the courthouse steps where children stood in line and waited for a chance to put in their wishes for Christmas.
