Annual fund-raiser returns Friday evening

The countdown to what may be the largest Owen County Relay for Life event ever is beginning to wind down.
Hundreds of volunteers and cancer survivors, their friends and families are preparing to descend on Itron Field, starting at 7 p.m. Friday night.
Throughout the night, the battle against cancer will take the spotlight through fun, music and special events.
Here is the schedule of events for this year’s event:
5-9 p.m., Kentucly Blood Center Bloodmobile, the blood center will be giving $10 Walmart gift cards to anyone who gives blood.
5-7 p.m., The Robinson Family, live music; survivor registration, in front of the Owen County Extension Office.
7-7:30 p.m., Opening ceremony, ball drop; welcome, color guard, National Anthem, invocation, guest speaker, special music and event recognition.
7:30-7:45 p.m., Survivor ceremony; survivor recognition and Walk of Fame lap, caregiver recognition and lap, trick-or-treat for survivors.
7:45-8 p.m., Parade of teams; introduction of teams, sign up for Relay Idol and Super Bowl lap.
8:10 p.m., Team photos.
8-9:45 p.m., Activities; “Romance in the Air,” Valentines Day newlywed game, all couples take a lap; wear-your-green lap for St. Patrick’s Day; dance around the track during Mardi Gras.
9:45 p.m., All activities cease and silent auction ends.
10-11 p.m., Luminary ceremony, all activities cease, including walking.
11 p.m.-Midnight, activities and entertainment continue.
Midnight, Celebrating another year and birthday lap;  Bobbye Bowling pajama parade
12:30-1 a.m., Relay Idol.
1-2 a.m., Relay musical chairs and Mother’s Day lap.
2 a.m., Father’s Day lap; dance fever; special talent; Minute to Win It; Halloween lap; grab a committee member lap; backwards lap; summer time lap.
3-4 a.m., T-shirt freeze contest, wake up call; ’70s and ’80s music; line dancing.
4 a.m., Fear Factor time; dance fever; karaoke; special talent.
5 a.m., Mr. and Ms. Relay; Thanksgiving lap; crazy sock and hat lap.
6 a.m., Grab a partner lap; Christmas lap.
7 a.m., Closing ceremony; breakfast supplied by McDonald’s; walker’s award given.
