The Owen County High School volleyball team played a pair of tight matches last week. They won the first and dropped the second.
The team’s opening match of the week came at Heritage Academy on Oct. 8.
The Lady Rebels played the Eagles twice last season winning both matches with little trouble. After winning the first two sets on Oct. 8 25-18 and 25-20, Owen County was forced to play a fourth set after Heritage won the third 25-23.
The Lady Rebels would wrap up the match in the fourth set by winning 25-20.
Owen County has now won nine-straight matches against the Eagles. They had a chance for 10 straight when they hosted Heritage Academy on Monday night.
On Oct. 10, the team welcomed Grant County High School to Owenton for a match.
Owen County defeated the Lady Braves in five sets back on Aug. 22 in Dry Ridge. They would not be as fortunate on this night.
The Lady Rebels won the opening set 25-18 before the Lady Braves came back and took the next two 25-14 and 28-26 to earn the victory.
After playing a match Tuesday night at Western Hills High School, the team will wrap up the regular season tonight (Wednesday) at home against Newport Independent High School.
