The Owen County High School baseball team entered last week in search of its first win.
By week’s end, they had it.
Owen County began the week March 29 with a road trip up I-71 to take on Walton-Verona.
The Bearcats and Rebels played a tight game but in the end it was the home team Bearcats who came away with the 7-6 win.
The team then returned home Wednesday afternoon for a game with Simon Kenton.
The Pioneers, playing their first game of the season, got on the scoreboard in the top of the first inning. The Rebels battled back all evening and were able to come away with the 6-4 victory.
The win ended the Rebels losing streak at five games to open the season.
Owen County then went back on the road Thursday night as they travelled to Williamstown. The winning streak would not last as the Demons defeated the Rebels by the final score of 7-3.
Despite being on spring break, the Rebels played at home Tuesday, defeating Trimble County 7-4. The team will play Carroll County Thursday in the All “A” Classic at home.
After the break, the boys will return to action April 13 against Gallatin County.
