Rebel Ramblings: Playoff Edition

• Holy Cross ended the Rebels’ perfect season a year ago when they defeated Owen County 45-0 in the second round of the Class 2A state playoffs in Owenton.
• The Indians finished the season 3-7 after falling 50-0 to Holmes on Friday night. Holy Cross won two of last their four games after beginning the season 1-5.
• Owen County finished the season by winning their final four games after beginning the season 2-4.
• Holy Cross High School Head Football Coach Bruce Kozerski is in his ninth season at the helm. His career record is 54-53.
• After losing his first three first-round playoff games, Kozerski has guided the Indians to five-straight opening round wins in the playoffs.
•  The Rebels are 0-2 all-time against Holy Cross in the playoffs. They lost in both 2009 and 2011.
• In all six of their wins, the Rebels scored at least 40 points. Owen County scored 40 points or more in just two games last year.
• With their win on Friday night at Ludlow, the Rebels finished the season 5-1 on the road.
• Owen County scored 386 points during the regular season. The total was second most in Class 2A behind Caldwell County which scored 410 points.
• Other playoff matchups on Friday night include Walton-Verona hosting Newport, Lloyd at home against Carroll County and Newport Central Catholic playing host to Gallatin County.
