Ceremony marks groundbreaking for new boat ramp

By Molly Haines

Approximately 25 people attended a ribbon-cutting/groundbreaking ceremony Monday for the boat ramp at Gratz.
The boat ramp will be located near the site of the old Gratz bridge. Construction on the ramp is expected to begin this winter.
The Owen County Fiscal Court will be responsible for keeping the ramp clean once completed, as well as mowing and keeping weeds from accumulating along the sides of the boat ramp, entrance road and parking area.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife will provide law enforcement patrols at the ramp on a regular basis.
State Rep. Royce Adams, D-Dry Ridge and Owen County Judge-executive Carolyn Keith both said they hope the ramp will bring Owen County fishermen a lot of enjoyment and also bring some new faces to Gratz.
Representatives from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife said the crowd at the ceremony was one of the largest they had ever seen for a boat ramp.
