Ralph M. Herald

Ralph M. Herald, 85, of Worthville, died June 18, 2009, at King’s Daughter’s Hospital in Madison, Ind. Born June 17, 1924, to Elmer and Olia Breeden Herald of Owen County, he worked as a corrections officer at Kentucky State Reformatory in LaGrange, was a former employee of Rich Ladder in Carrollton, and retired from M&T Chemical Co. of Carrollton. He was former member of Worthville Volunteer Fire Department, was an avid motorcycle rider, and a member of Dean Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthville. He served in the Army during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Chris Elmer Herald; and a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Herald.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Moscoe Herald; daughters, Dale LaVonne Eaves of Worthville, Sheilah Ann Nortonand and her husband, Glenn, of Danville, and Rhonda Gaye Burt of Worthville; sons, Dennis Keith Herald and his wife, Barbara, of West Milton, Ohio, Ricky Muriel Herald of Worthville, and Barry Allan Herald and his wife, Sandra, of Nicholasville; a sister, Pauline Suter of Wheatley; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 23, 2009, at Dean Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis W. Norton officiating. Burial was in Squiresville Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Joey Dickerson, Bill Thompson, Shorty Tomlinson, Bishop Smith, Billy Wilson, Jim Stephenson, Dennis Sharon and Floyd Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers included: Donnie Westrick, Rusty Towles, Jimmy Adams, Steve Hudson, Monte Reynolds, Marty Reynolds, Coy Kelso and Sonny Hawkins.
