Elk Creek Vineyards is hosting Froggy 104.9 Owenfest on Saturday. Rebekka Siegel is helping organize the event. She said their goal is to provide community and family-friendly events. The day will begin at 9 a.m. with a 5K Run through the Elk Creek property. She said all proceeds from the race will go to Project Graduation and the winner of the event will win two tickets to a Sara Evans concert. Another event is a “catch and release” kids’ fishing tournament at 10 a.m. The first prize will be a fishing rod donated by Bob Risch. Second through fourth place will receive a frog cup donated by Seigel Pottery. Also at 10 a.m., the crafts and farmers’ market booths will open. They will stay open untill 5 p.m. The music starts at 11 a.m. on the stage. The first band will be Garrick Howell. Big Head Lincoln Band featuring Jeff Ziehm takes the stage at 11:45. Velvet Soul Band will perform at 1 p.m. Downtown County Band performs at 2:30. The Handsome Devils Band will appear at 3:45. Seigel recommends that people bring lawn chairs. The festival will have many kid-friendly activities. The Fun Factory will set up inflatable. Tickets are $5 for an all-day pass or $1 for each entry. The Owen County Public Library will have a puppet-making booth set up where kids can make a frog-puppet. This is a free activity. At 11:30, there will be a Hot Dog Eating Contest sponsored by Dairy Queen. This contest is limited to 15 people. It costs $5 to enter and first prize will be a cash purse and two tickets to a Sara Evans concert. Second and third will also receive a monetary prize. The Miss Frogalicious Swamp Pageant begins at 12:45 with contestant introductions. At 2 the contestants will appear on stage for the question-and-answer part of the competition. Miss Frogalicious will be crowned at 3:30 p.m. The winner of the event will receive two tickets to a Sara Evans concert. Entry fee is $5. A Corn Hole Tournament will kick off at 1 p.m. and is organized by Noel True. The entry fee is $5. You must be registered by noon and partners will be drawn at the start of the competition. The winners will receive two Sara Evans tickets and a cash prize. There will also be a monetary prize for second and third places. The winner of the Frog Leg Cook Off competition will be announced at 4:15. Entry fee is $5 and Sara Evans tickets will be awarded to the Most Unique, Best Overall and the Best Presentation.
