The Owen County track team was in action at Grant County on Thursday. The Rebels took part in the Grant County All-Comers Meet.
The team had some strong performances from both the boys and the girls.
In the 100-meter dash, Melina Bress finished fourth while Evyn White took 12th place.
White then placed seventh in the 200-meter dash while Bress finished eighth.
Kelsey Johnson placed 10th in the 100-meter hurdles. Rachel Dauwe finished 13th while Haley DeCandia finished 15th. Johnson again placed 10th in the 300-meter hurdles with DeCandia coming in 14th.
Danielle Hoop ran to a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash and the 800-meter run.
The girls’ 4x200-meter relay team, made up of White, Devon Jouett, Bress and Hoop, ran to a first-place finish. The 4x400-meter relay team of Johnson, Camelia Evans, DeCandia and Dauwe finished fifth.
In field events, Evans finished 13th in shot put while Johnson finished 16th.
Shayla Lainhart finished 23rd in discus and 21st in shot put.
The boys’ top finishers included Tyler Williams finishing 12th in the 100-meter dash.
Teammates Tyler Pruitt finished 14th and Cory Cannon placed 15th. Clayton Cook ran to a sixth-place finish in the 110 -meter hurdles and a 16th-place finish in the 1600-meter run. Cook also ran well in the 300-meter hurdles finishing sixth.
In the 200-meter dash, Williams finished 14th and Cannon finished 18th.
The boy’s 4x100-meter relay team of July Taylor, Williams, Daniel Dauwe and Pruitt finished fifth and the 4x200-meter relay team consisting of the same four runners placed fourth. The 4x400-meter relay team of Taylor, Dylan Hearn, Justin Davis and Cook ran to a sixth-place finish.
In the field events, Keith Arutoff finished first while Josh Alford came in fourth. Dillon Mears finished 10th while Daniel Cummings finished 14th.
Pruitt jumped to a seventh-place finish in the long jump. Alford finished second in the shot put while Arutoff finished fourth.
The team ran at Shelby County Tuesday and will run at Western Hills in Frankfort Thursday.
