The Owen County Upper Elementary School will be recognized for achieving the Energy Star rating on Tuesday at 9 a.m.
Owen County Upper Elementary School will be recognized by school and state officials for achieving the Energy Star from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to denote its energy efficiency.
“The Upper Elementary School should be proud to achieve the status of Energy Star.” Rob Stafford, Owen County Schools Superintendent, said. “The Upper Elementary School should be proud to achieve the status of Energy Star. It recognizes the hard work of our maintenance staff, faculty and students to set an example of energy conservation.”
Dan Logan, director of facilities for Owen County schools, said “We are always searching for ways to become more energy efficient and send an important message to the community, teachers, and students. It’s a win-win when a school’s carbon footprint is reduced and the savings can be redirected to children in the classroom.”
This certification and rating makes Owen County Upper Elementary one of the top elementary schools in the state of Kentucky. Three of the four schools in Owen County have achieved Energy Star rating, making it one of the top districts in the state in conserving energy.”
