Owen Republicans to welcome young speakers to meeting

The Owen County Republican Party meeting will be held Aug. 20 at the Smith House. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting will start at 7 p.m.
The meeting will feature two special home-schooled students who will be speaking: speakers:
• Connor Eades is the 9-year old son of Robert and Tina Eades of Owenton. Conner is a fourth grader in his second year of homeschool. This is his first public speech. He has participated in Bible drills at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and is also a member there. He is hoping in the future to compete on state levels in speakers’ tournaments. Conner’s topic is “One Nation Under God.”
• Autumn Adkins is the 17-year old daughter of Robby and Kristi Adkins of Owenton, she will be a junior and has always been homeschooled. She teaches children’s church at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She has won the state level Bible drill competition in 2011.
Autumn also has won the state-level speakers’ tournament both in 2012 and 2013.  She was the national runner up in the speaker’s tournament in Georgia for 2012.  Her topic is “The Changing World of Compassion.”
