Owen judo finishes third in Indiana

In their last tournament of the school year, the Owen County Judo Team competed  May 2 at the “Indiana State Judo Championship.” The Indiana Judo Association opens their state championship to players from other states, which allowed Owen County to compete in it. With 54 points, Owen County took the third-place team trophy.

Eleven Owen County players competed in 18 different divisions and placed as follows:


Clay Beverly: Second in 9/10 advanced heavyweight division

 David Gray: First in 9/10 advanced middleweight division, and second in 11/12 advanced lightweight division

Madison Lubbe: First in 11/12 novice middleweight division

Jaimie Souders: Second in 11/12 novice middleweight division

Chelsae Smith: First in 11/12 advanced heavyweight division



James Thompson: First in 13/14 advanced heavyweight division, and second in 15/16 advanced heavy weight division

Zac Widener: First  in 13/14 novice middleweight division, and first  in 13/14 advanced middle weight division



Robert Beverly: First in 15/16 advanced heavyweight division, and third in senior men heavyweight Brown and Black belt division

Blaine Prather: Second in 15/16 novice middleweight division

John Thompson: Third in senior men lightweight brown and black belt division
