Owen girls track team stays busy

The Owen County High School girls track team spent a busy week running around northern Kentucky and Lexington.
The team started last week at Walton-Verona in the NCKC Meet.
Overall, the team would finish fourth behind Walton-Verona, Trimble County and Henry County high schools. Williamstown and Carroll County high schools placed fifth and sixth.
In the 100-meter dash, it was Andi Burford and Sarah Willhoite placed sixth and 10th.
Burford finished fifth in the 200-meter dash while Ardri Hager placed seventh.
Samantha Tamplin was seventh in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter run.
Emily Bibb was eighth in the 1600-meter run.
Tamplin also placed fourth in the 3200-meter run.
Hager placed fifth and Nicole Jacobs came in sixth in the 100-meter hurdles.
In the 300-meter hurdles, it was Jacobs in fourth place with Hager coming in seventh.
The 4x100-meter relay team placed second.
The 4x200-meter team was fourth and the 4x800-meter team placed third.
Amber Gover was eighth and Bibb ninth in the long jump. Willhoite was ninth and Helena Kramer 10th in the shot put while Paula Rivera was fourth and Willhoite tenth in the discus.
The girls also took part on Wednesday night in the Tates Creek All-Comers Meet. Haley DeCandia finished eighth in the 200-meter dash. Bibb was 15th in the 800-meter and Tamplin ninth in the 1600-meter run.
Hager was ninth and Kramer came in 11th in the 100-meter hurdles while Jacobs was sixth and Hager came in 13th in the 300-meter hurdles.
Rivera was seventh; Willhoite, ninth; and Kramer, 11th in the discus while Willhoite placed 12th in the shot put.
The Lady Rebels closed out the week by taking part in the Grant County Invitational in Dry Ridge.
In the 100-meter dash, it was DeCandia seventh and Burford 10th.
Burford was also 10th in the 200-meter dash with Danielle Roetker 19th.
Tamplin was 12th and Roetker 16th in the 800-meter run and ninth and 10th in the 1600-meter run.
Tamplin also placed sixth in the 3200-meter run.
Jacobs was sixth and Hager seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.
Jacobs finished eighth in the 300-meter hurdles.
The 4x100-meter relay team of Burford, Jacobs, Hager and DeCandia finished ninth while the 4x200-meter relay team of DeCandia, Hager, Jacobs and Burford finished eighth.
DeCandia won the high jump.
