Owen County track teams sets more records

The records keep falling this season for the Owen County track teams.

The teams combined to set three more school records last week at the Grant County All-Comers Meet in Dry Ridge April 28.

In the girls’ meet, it was Kelsey Johnson who set a school record in the 300-meter hurdles. Her time of 1:00.47 was good enough for 11th place.  Her teammate Melina Bress finished 13th.

Haley DeCandia set new school record in the high jump. Her jump of 4-4 placed her fourth while Danielle Ransdell finished fifth.

In the other events, it was Bress and Ransdell finishing second and fifth in the 100-meter dash.

Evyn White placed second in the 200-meter dash. In the 400-meter dash, Hoop won the event with Rachel Dauwe finishing 17th.

Hoop also finished third in the 800-meter run. In the 100-meter hurdles, Johnson finished fifth and Rachel Dauwe finished 14th. The 4x100-meter relay team finished second while the 4x200-meter relay team came in first. The 4x400-meter team finished sixth while the 4x800-meter team placed fifth.

In the field events, Shayla Lainhart finished ninth in the discus.

In the high jump, DeCandia and Ransdell finished fourth and fifth. White finished fifth in the long jump and Lainhart placed seventh in the shot put.

The boys’ meet also saw several solid individual performances.

Cory Cannon finished 11th in the 100-meter dash while Tyler Williams and Avery Gover finished 15th and 25th.

Cannon placed second in the 200-meter dash with Williams placing 19th.

In the 400-meter dash, Cannon placed 14th while Justin Davis and Daniel Dauwe finished 16th and 22nd. Ryan Marston had a sixth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

Dylan Hearn placed eighth while Marston and Gover finished 11th and 12th in the 300-meter hurdles. Davis ran to a 17th place finish in the 800-meter run while Cody Downey finished 23rd.

The 4x100-meter relay team finished second and the 4x200-meter team placed third. The 4x400-meter team and the 4x800-meter team finished seventh and fifth.

In the field events, Keith Arutoff set a new school record in winning the discus throw.

Josh Alford finished second while Daniel Dauwe and Payton placed sixth and ninth. Daniel Powell came in 20th.

July Traylor finished sixth in the high jump.

In the long jump, Tyler Pruitt finished eighth. Pruitt also placed third in the triple jump.

Alford and Arutoff finished first and second in the shot put. Daniel Dauwe finished fourth.
