Owen County grabs sixth at Grant meet

The Owen County High School track team should be familiar with Crittenden.

For the second time in as many weeks, the Rebels competed in Grant County at the Grant County Invitational.

Both the boys and the girls had several members who had good meets.

For the girls, Shelby Ogden finished 11th in the 100-meter dash and 14th in the 200-meter dash. Also in the 200-meter dash, Kaylynn Workman placed 12th. Workman would then place 11th in the 300-meter hurdles. In the 100-meter hurdles, it was Kelsey Johnson finishing 10th and Haley Decandia 11th. Michaela Gibson placed 10th in the 400-meter dash. The 4x100-meter relay team finished sixth and the 4x200-meter relay team finished seventh.

Johnson placed 10th in the discus while Krystal Webster placed 11th. Webster also placed 12th in the shot put with Ashley Tyler finishing 14th. Haley Decandia continued her solid season placing fifth in the high jump.

In the boy’s meet, Cory Cannon and Taz Adams finished sixth and 13th in the 100-meter dash.

Cannon also placed sixth in the 200-meter dash. Justin Davis ran to a seventh-place finish in the 400-meter dash with teammate Tyler True coming in 12th. Bobby Mingie and Taz Adams placed fourth and ninth in the 110-meter hurdles. The pair also ran well in the 300-meter hurdles with Mingie placing second and Adams seventh. Mingie finished eighth in the 1,600-meter Run. The 4x400-meter relay team placed sixth and the 4x800-meter relay team placed fifth.

In the field events, it was Daniel Cummins placing second in the discus while Dillon Mears placed fifth. Cory Cannon jumped to a ninth-place finish in the long jump while Cody Downey finished 11th. Taz Adams finished fifth in the shot put with Daniel Powell finishing 12th.

The team will not be in action again until May 7 when they take part in the Carroll County Invitational.
