The water shortage that shut down businesses, schools and industry across Owen County for nearly six days is over.
The trouble began Jan. 6 when a main waterline along Main Street in Owenton ruptured. With temperatures near zero for nearly 48 hours, frozen water inside the pipes is considered the culprit behind the break.
As other lines across the county began to freeze and break, water tanks across the county began to drain. Without adequate pressure, customers with Kentucky American saw their faucets run dry.
