For more than a decade at this very time, Lee McIntosh has been preparing for one of the Commonwealth’s great traditions: the Kentucky State Fair.
McIntosh is one of about 80 employees at the Kentucky Department of Agriculture who work around the clock in the mid-August heat to put on the fair. This year, Agriculture Commissioner James Comer is honoring career employees such as McIntosh who work behind the scenes for the event but rarely get the recognition they deserve.
