The Owen County Art Council would like to thank everyone who made the first annual Sweet Owen Arts in the Park possible. There were many hands behind the scenes that combined to create a great event for Owen County.

First, we want to thank all of the Servolution volunteers who assisted with cleaning, painting and moving furniture to prepare the building for the festival. In addition, Owen County TAPP was a wonderful partner, both in helping us advertise the event and providing a top-notch sound system for both our event and the Battle of the Bands. We also want to thank all of the volunteers who donated their time to hang and remove student artwork and to help with maintaining the fairgrounds while the festival was happening.

Many local businesses helped us fund the project, and we appreciate their investment in the arts in this community. Our sponsors were Bowlin Energy Services, First Farmers Bank, McDonald & New Funeral Homes, Owen Building Supply, Owen County Chamber of Commerce, Owen Electric and Peoples Bank. We also had many donors who contributed items that made the festival a success. Our donors were Elk Creek Hunt Club, Fairway Golf Course, Frankfort WalMart, Halloween Express, Hometown Pizza, Hunters’ Greenhouse, Meadowview Grocery, Petals on the Square, Southern States, Sunshine Grow Shop and TRC Resource Center.

We are indebted to the artists, musicians and demonstrators who contributed their time and energy to showcase the arts in Owen County. We are so proud of their talent and dedication to their work. Thanks for letting us show you off.

We welcome feedback to make the next year’s event even better, and we welcome any newcomers who may be interested in being involved in the arts council. We hope that you’ll make plans to attend next year’s festival, tentatively scheduled for May 22, 2010.
